A multi-Year Grant Recipient
Latinos in Architecture (LiA), an AIA Austin member committee, serves local Latino communities and design professionals through a variety of educational, professional and community-oriented programs. The group wanted to fund a scholarship for The Summer Academy at the University of Texas, School of Architecture, in an effort to promote the profession to Latino high school students. The Summer Academy, an intensive introductory course in architecture, is designed for people who have limited background in architecture and who wish to explore an interest in the field. Multiple AFA grants have made it possible for Latino students to attend the Summer Academy and explore interests in architecture.
The idea that a well-built environment enriches the quality of our lives is at the heart of the AFA mission.
