Creative Action’s Color Squad explores civic engagement through visual art and design as teen artists transform community spaces with original public art. Members work under the guidance of local professional artists to produce work that deeply engages with the history and culture of Austin neighborhoods while developing an appreciation for and skill set in art and design. Teens are paid for their work as they:
- take part in an intensive research, design and installation process;
- build self-confidence, communication and leadership skills;
- collaborate to create transformative art that engages with existing architecture and design to revive communities.
