The Austin History Center’s Architectural Archives is a notable collection of documents pertaining to the architectural heritage of Austin and Travis County. It is an outstanding resource for architecture, design, engineering students and professionals, as well as for the broader community. The collection includes a significant body of recorded oral history interviews of local architects and Travis County citizens speaking about the local built environment. An AFA grant to transcribe these oral history recordings will enable the Center to make them available to the public for research purposes and cultural enrichment.
The idea that a well-built environment enriches the quality of our lives is at the heart of the AFA mission.
